Dear Dick - We are so sorry to hear of Gene's death. We will always remember our times together! The fun, the laughs and even the tears will forever be in our hearts. She touched so many with her wonderful, funny ways. Even at this very sad time, I smile when I think of the crazy things we did. We wish you peace and thank you for letting us share in the glory that was "Gene". She was a fantastic woman, friend, nurse, actor, writer and fighter. She will be missed.

Dear Dick and the boys,
I was the secretary at Sullivan's Island School when Gene worked as a kindergarten aide for Joan Martens. When Gene found out that we had the same birthday (March 26th), she went around to all the classrooms, and wrote the date of our birthdays on everyone's calendars. When our next birthday came, the faculty threw us a birthday party, and gave us, as a joke...the worst stuff you could ever imagine...things like used rubber gloves, a plant made of sand burs and prickly pear cactus, and a half of a very old bra. Gene called us the Bellicose Birthday Buddies; and a birthday cannot pass without remembering how fun and funny Gene was. She loved y'all so much. Her zany mirth will be greatly missed.

Gene - you always had a smile for those you greeted and a loving hug. You will truly be missed at all family functions but we know you will be there in spirit and in stories. We love you with all our hearts. See ya later...

Gene will be sorely missed. I had the privelege of getting to know her through volunteering at Susan G. Komen and Roper/ St. Francis Hospital and she worked tirelessly as an advocate of breast cancer research. Her friends at SASSY (Strength and Survivorship Support for You) send their love to her.

My prayers go out to the family and friends of this wonderful woman.

With eyes that sparked Magic, a Spirit that laughed out loud, a laugh that landed in your bones, and a Heart that made you want to be a better person and just hug something, that is Gene Glave. My life is blessed and better for knowing you and your family, Gene. Some of the greatest moments of my life was trying not to break character while standing opposite you on stage because my insides hurt from wanting to burst out laughing. Making you laugh became my goal each time we played together. It was my way of saying "thank you" for bringing so much happiness with you every where you go. I'll see you again, my Sweet, Brave, Glorious friend. And we'll do it again and again. With all my love and admiration for the Inspiration you are ~ on stage & screen and off ~ Always and All Ways ~ Edie Allen

Dear Gene... I know you are an Angel in heaven now, doing great work up there, just like you did down here. When I was praying on Wednesday for you and your family, such a fire and spirit took over me like I haven't had for a very long time. That's how I know... that's how I know your spirit is alive and powerful... How I know you're there for us... I feel so blessed for having even been touched by your holiness whenever I saw you... Keep up the great work our Angel, we all need your blessings :+)

Dick,
All I can say is I am sorry. We all loved Gene so much. She touched all our lives in only a way Gene could.I was out of town and did not know until just now.
With deepest sympathy,

You are in my thoughts during this time. I was one of the Lowcountry Bloggers and met Gene through that and she supported me when the Chas co Relay for Life was meeting at the Roper hospital and I had to give a speech. I am a cancer survivor as well and I felt Gene gave me the spark I needed to start volunteering and helping out the ACS as a patient advocate. I will miss Gene very much.

The Glave Family,
The world lost an angel this week.

No words can ease your pain at this time. Please know, however, the love she had for her family. To hear her talk about "Dick" and the funny things he did, and "those boys," what a legacy she has left for your.

Please know that she touched so many lives in a positive way. She lived, she loved and she laughed.

I hope your wonderful memories will sustain each of you in the coming weeks and months.

She's smiling down on all of us today. No more pain and suffering.
